声 (Shēng) (sheng.so) values your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

We collect information that you provide directly when using 声 (Shēng), as well as limited information generated through your use of the Service.

This may include account details such as your name and email address, event and configuration information, and content you submit or upload, including audio recordings and any associated metadata.

If you are a Host, we may also collect information about your Events and any Guest details you choose to provide for invitation purposes.

If you are a Guest, we may collect the information you provide when submitting a recording, including your name (if provided) and your audio content.

We also collect certain basic information automatically when you use the Service, such as device information, log data, and usage activity, to help us operate and improve the platform.

In some cases, we may receive limited information from third-party services we use to support payments, authentication, or communications.

2. Usage of Data

We use the information we collect to operate, maintain, and improve 声 (Shēng).

This includes:

  • providing the core functionality of the Service, including creating Events and recording audio messages
  • storing, processing, and displaying audio recordings and related content
  • enabling Hosts and Guests to access and interact with Events
  • processing payments and managing subscriptions or Event capacity
  • sending service-related communications, such as confirmations, updates, or important notices
  • improving and developing features, performance, and user experience
  • ensuring the safety, security, and integrity of the Service
  • complying with legal obligations where required

We process personal data based on your consent, to fulfill our contractual obligations to you, and where necessary for our legitimate interests in operating and improving the Service.

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell or trade your personal data. We only share information with essential service providers, such as payment processors and hosting infrastructure, to the extent necessary to keep the service running.

4. Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies to maintain login sessions, ensure platform functionality, and analyze site usage. You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings, but disabling cookies may limit or prevent access to certain features.

5. Security

We employ reasonable measures to protect your personal details, including emails, and technical logs from unauthorized access or accidental disclosure. Despite these efforts, please be aware that no data transmission over the internet can be guaranteed as 100% secure.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to access, update, or correct your personal information at any time.

Hosts may manage or delete their Events and associated recordings through the Service, subject to certain limitations such as technical or legal requirements.

If you are a Guest, you may request that your recording or associated information be removed by contacting us with details to help identify your submission (such as the event link, the name you provided, and the approximate time). We will make reasonable efforts to locate and delete the recording and will notify the Host of the removal. Please note that because guest names are self-reported, we may have limited ability to verify your identity.

Where required by applicable law, we will also comply with additional rights, such as data portability or withdrawal of consent.

7. Data Retention

We retain personal information and content for as long as necessary to provide the Service and fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy.

Since recordings are intended as lasting memories, Event data is retained as long as your account remains active and the Event exists. Hosts may delete individual recordings or entire Events at any time through the Service.

If your account is closed, we will provide a reasonable period to export your data before it is deleted, unless we are required to retain it for legal, security, or operational purposes.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. You will be notified of any changes via email.

9. Governing Law

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of Singapore.
